An Equine-Informed Literacy Program for Kids

Book Wranglers

Where stories come alive—and young readers ride into confidence.

Welcome to Book Wranglers, a playful, empowering program where children improve their reading skills alongside the gentle encouragement of horses. Rooted in the belief that confidence and connection are key to literacy, this equine-informed experience helps young readers grow their abilities through joyful, pressure-free reading sessions—no saddles, no tests, just books, boots, and big-hearted horses.

Why Horses for Literacy?

Horses are calm, curious listeners. They don't rush, judge, or interrupt. For children who struggle with reading or feel anxious about it, horses provide a soothing presence that helps ease self-consciousness and spark motivation.

When kids read aloud to horses, something magical happens:

  • Anxiety fades

  • Confidence rises

  • Words flow more freely

  • And reading becomes fun again

Program Highlights

📖 Read-Aloud Sessions
Children read stories aloud to our kind, trained equine partners, building fluency, vocabulary, and self-assurance at their own pace.

🐴 Equine Activities
Gentle, guided interactions with the horses (grooming, leading, observation) help children develop focus, empathy, and trust—skills that support learning in and out of the classroom.

🌟 Creative Literacy Play
From storytelling circles to word games and barnyard “book adventures,” we integrate literacy development with imagination and movement.
